Welcome. My name is Brooke Mallory. I was born and raised in Everett, Washington. In 1999 I moved to Seattle for school and never left. After graduating from the University of Washington on the Dean’s List in 2003 with a B.A. in English and a minor in Women’s Studies, I somehow found myself immersed in the integrate world of insurance, where I still spend my days, mulling over contracts.

But in 2006, my world changed.

I got a divorce and I started my volunteer work in animal rescue. And I never looked back. To read how I began my work in animal rescue, visit my Delta Society blog spotlight. Through my rescue work, I found I had a knack and an affinity for the naughty dogs. Rehabilitating behavior cases became my specialty. On February 23, 2009, I co-founded Motley Zoo Animal Rescue, along with my two rescue partners, Jme and Bryan Thomas.

After working many long hours maintaining both my full-time paying job and the 24/7 volunteer work of animal rescue, I came to a point where I needed to find balance in my life again. Working 24/7 was no longer a pace I could maintain. In January of 2011, I stepped-down from Motley Zoo’s board. And while I am no longer on the board, Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is still going strong, as is my work in the rescue community. When I’m not savings lives and crunching numbers, I’m creating art through photography and crafts. The world is a whirlwind. Art is how I reconnect with myself and the collective community. You could say crafting is my meditation. It’s my Zen. With each stitch and knit and fold, I weave pieces of my heart into everything I create. And then, I package my little bits of love, sprinkle them with hope and send them off into the world. SageLike Studios is my workshop where I create and sell my crafts. Brooke Mallory Photography is where I share and sell my photography.
