People often tell me how lucky I am to be a pet photographer. And it’s true. I love my job. But it’s not always a piece of cake. It takes a lot of patience, creativity, flexibility, improvisation, humor, more patience and a dose of luck. Here is a little behind-the-scenes peek at today’s photo session with Mari, my foster dog who is available for adoption through Motley Zoo Animal Rescue.
.
It went sorta like this…
.
.
Hey, Mari! Look! I have really yummy TREATS!
All you have to do is look over here…
.
.
.
No, really! I promise… these treats are so YUMMY!
Don’t you want to SIT for one of these amazing, delicious treats?
.
.
Ok, ok. Forget the treats. What if I make some strange noises?
Beep, beep, beep!!
.
.
.
Seriously? Now you are just messing with me on purpose.
.
.
.
Oh! There is a dog walking by? Perfect!
Ok, you hold still and watch the dog and I’ll just sneak in some photos. Cool?
.
.
.
Hold it… Hold it… Got it!

Great idea, great shots, and great execution!! So is Mari like Leon’s sister or cousin or what? Looks like some family resemblance there!? I like the side view pic the best. Not all “mistakes or missed shots” are what they seem!
On another note, thank God for digital camera’s!!
John – I was going to Facebook you to tell you I was fostering Leon’s stunt double!!! And she is not only his twin in looks, but in personality too!
And yes, thank god for digital camera’s
I also love the profile photo.
love it- for every ONE shot that works, there’s 50 outtakes!!!
thanks so much for taking such nice shots- they really are beautiful.
